55 min from Cleveland, OH

Country Acres Campground near Cleveland, Ohio

Country Acres Campground is about 55 minutes from Cleveland, Ohio — a 40-mile drive to a real 5-acre lake, cabins, and full-hookup RV sites. It is the closest thing to a get-out-of-the-city weekend that still gets you home in under an hour.

From Cleveland the drive is mostly highway and genuinely easy — south and east out of the metro toward Ravenna, about forty miles door to gate. For a city that spends its summers looking for somewhere green to go, Country Acres is the practical answer: close enough for a Friday-after-work departure, quiet enough that you forget the city by the time the fire is lit.

The Cleveland family's easy lake getaway

Cleveland has the lake up north, but for actual camping on the water most families head south — and Country Acres is the easy pick, about an hour from downtown and a world away in feel. A real 5-acre lake, 16 cabins, full-hookup RV sites, a pool, and a themed event nearly every weekend from May through October. It is a true getaway without a four-hour drive to do it.

It is also the practical base for two things Cleveland families already drive down for. Cuyahoga Valley National Park draws roughly 3 million visits a year and has no campground inside it — so campers sleep just outside, and Country Acres is a straightforward drive from the Scenic Railroad, the towpath, and Brandywine Falls. And Blossom Music Center is close enough to book a cabin for a concert weekend, tailgate at your own picnic table, and skip the parking-lot crawl home.

Everything is included with the stay — the pool, the lake for fishing and paddling, gem mining, laser tag, the jumping pillow, the snack shack, and the weekend events. For a Cleveland family it works out cheaper and calmer than a hotel-and-attractions weekend, and the kids remember it a lot longer.

You do not need to own an RV, either. With 16 cabins on site, a Cleveland family can camp near the lake with nothing but bedding and food. Forty miles south of the city is close enough for a weekend and far enough to feel like a real escape — the sweet spot for a getaway you will actually take more than once a summer.
