15 min from Kent, OH

Country Acres Campground near Kent, Ohio

Country Acres Campground is about 15 minutes from Kent, Ohio — a straight six-mile shot out State Route 59 to a real 5-acre lake, cozy cabins, and full-hookup RV sites. When the hotels in Kent fill up, we are the quiet spot just up the road.

The drive from Kent could not be simpler. You leave downtown on East Main Street, it becomes State Route 59, and it carries you almost the whole way to our gate on Minyoung Road. Six miles, one turn to remember, and you trade a parking-lot hotel for a campsite on the water.

Made for Kent State weekends

If you have a student at Kent State University, you already know the pattern. Move-in weekend, family weekend, homecoming, graduation — the same handful of dates when every hotel in Kent is booked solid and priced like it. Country Acres is ten minutes from campus and a different world: a cabin or a full-hookup RV site on a quiet lake instead of a room off the interstate.

Bring the RV and park it for the weekend, or book a cabin for the grandparents and the little siblings while the students do their thing. Either way you are close enough to be on campus in minutes and far enough to actually sleep. Families come back for the same date every year, which is exactly why we suggest booking Kent State weekends early.

It is not only a school-year thing. Kent families use Country Acres all summer as their weekend spot on the water — close enough to run home for anything you forgot, far enough to feel like a real getaway. From the first warm weekend in May through the leaves turning in October, the lake is fifteen minutes from your driveway.

And you do not need a student at Kent State for any of this to make sense. Country Acres is simply the closest campground to Kent, which makes it an easy first trip for a family new to camping and a simple place for friends from town to drive out, share a campfire, and head home the same night. Fifteen minutes from downtown Kent is close enough that the whole thing feels effortless.
